Six Fat Men SAL

Here's my progress after our first stitching day.  It took me 4 hours to grid one fourth of the fabric!
FOUR hours!  And then I didn't start stitching in the correct place for using a grid.  But I get it now.
What a waste of time.  I could have gotten so much stitched if I hadn't decided to grid.  The good thing about it is that I get it now and will do it next time I do something large.  I don't think it was necessary once the lettering was stitched.  Its going to be really hard not to stitch on this except for Mondays.  Next Monday I plan on finishing up on the writing "Snowmen melt my heart" and then start stitching the design that goes below the word snowmen.  If you're stitching along I hope you got a lot of stitching done yesterday!

  1. I felt the same when I had to put my small amount of stitching away - it was so tempting to pick it up again this morning, but I resisted. Well done on your start.

    1. Thanks Linda. Did you post your start? I can't find the orignal blog where this SAL started. I know I bookmarked it but its gone!

  2. Well done! I love your fabric!! Very pretty.
Congratulations on gridding too, it does take a lot of time to do, but makes things much easier in the end.

It's my blog you are looking for in regards to the SAL.

  3. Beautiful start, Sandy. Your fabric is so pretty. I couldn't stitch on Monday... Wasn't feeling well so I swapped Monday for Tuesday. Am I the only one who decided to start in the middle? LOL!

    Hugs,
    Veronica.

    1. Veronica you were brave to start with the center. Thanks for sharing the picture. The bird and his house are really cute but doesn't look so cute on the printed chart from LK's website. I love your fabric. I checked out your blog and your stitching in beautiful. I also want to stitch "Home of a Needleworker".

  4. At least you got started. I gridded a small pic recently and think it would be a good idea on large pieces

    1. Denise I hope you'll get to start with us next Monday. When I get brave enough to stitch over 2 threads again I will definately be gridding. Next time I will start in the right place though!
